‘Dhobi Ghat’ to be released in two versions

Aamir Khan’s production venture “Dhobi Ghat”, which is the directorial debut of his wife Kiran Rao, will be released in two versions – one completely in Hindi and the other with a few scenes in English.

“The film has 8-10 scenes in English. But we realized that people who are not very comfortable with the language would be in a tough spot. So we dubbed those scenes in Hindi,” Aamir told reporters here.

“We will release the film in two versions. One will be completely in Hindi and the other will have the original English dialogues. People can choose the version they want to see,” he said.

The 45-year-old confirmed that both the versions will be released Jan 21.

When asked the reason for two versions when he could have also gone in for subtitles, the actor-producer informed: “We didn’t want to keep subtitles because a lot of people don’t like reading while seeing the film and many people can’t read, so dubbing was a better option.”

“Dhobi Ghat” that stars Aamir along with Prateik Babbar, Monica Dogra, Kriti Malhotra, Kitu Gidwani and Nafisa Khan is a film about four characters from different classes of society and how their lives are interwined.

“I’m very happy for the film. Kiran has beautifully implemented what she intended to make. It’s a very different film, an arthouse film that we haven’t seen for a while.

“It’s a film about moments. Kiran has shot at real locations with a small crew, so it has a real feel about it. She has brought about the vibrancy and colour of Mumbai very well,” he added.

Movie Review : Toonpur Ka Superrhero

TOONPUR KA SUPERRHERO is a delightful and endearing kiddie movie. It has an engaging narrative [second half mainly], neat performances and adorable animated characters. The real stars are the technicians [who created the animated characters], the director [Kireet Khurana] and of course, its lead man [Ajay Devgn] who pulled off a technically remarkable achievement of having humans and animated film characters interact with each other. Revisit your childhood while watching this one!

Movie Review : Tees Maar Khan

There is a difference between Entertainment and Mental Torture. Tawaif Ki Loothi Izzat Bachana Aur Tees Maar Khan dekhna, dono hi bekaar hain.Okay, here is why Tees Maar Khan can make you cry this December. 

Plus points about Tees Maar Khan: Sheela Ki Jawani (but sadly even that has been exposed way too much, looks like Looks like Sheela ki menopause now).. and Akshay Kumar’s valiant attempt to do whatever he can of this tomfoolery.

Minus point of Tees Maar khan: Apart from a couple of things, in Tees Maar Khan, there is nothing worth applauding The movie is made very casually, (this is the vibe one gets, considering comedy is a ‘serious’ business); the characters and the story do not have any base. There are so many niggles like no background of Katrina Kaif, no clarity on those two twin brothers of Akshay and a forced gay track. 

There were so many areas where thrills could have been injected, but the director skips all those 'unimportant' parts. Akshay Kumar is Tees Maar Khan, but there is nothing to prove that he is what he claims to be. You don’t see ‘how’ he escapes from the prison, the treasure of Rs. 500 crore seems like a figment of an uninspired imagination. 

TMK is an institution for overacting; Farah Khan manages to make even Katrina Kaif boring. Akshaye Khanna has lost it; an actor of his caliber is languishing in such inconsequential roles. There have been other movies which were a ‘big joke’ in the name of entertainment like No Problem and Housefull , Tees Maar Khan is really a Tees Maar Khan in this department.

Performance in Tees Maar Khan:

Akshay Kumar ends the year with an embarrassment, his fault lies with bad scripts rather than acting. Enough of slap-stick comedy, dude..it makes you look like a joker(though you are fantastic). A sincere advice to Katrina Kaif, who has actually acted well in movies like New York: please try the Neha Dhupia/ Kareena Kapoor formula of doing quality-script rich films; you will get a lot of respect m’am. The lesser said about the others, the better.

Conclusion: Farah Khan did a good thing by not considering SRK for this film. Some movies are made for you to lose money, this ones make you lose your mind too, even if you had left it behind at home!

Sheila Ki Jawani, now a C-grade film

Kanti Shah, who is known as the king of C-grade films in Bollywood, has an interesting one up his sleeve this time. Instead of using double entendres, Shah has used Katrina Kaif’s current sizzling chartbuster Sheila Ki Jawani as the title of his film.

The announcement on Shah’s film was used as an advertisement in a trade magazine recently. Kumar Mohan, the editor of the magazine, recalls, “When Kanti Shah came to me with the advertisement I laughed and told him that I knew he was capable of making the most of such ideas. These films are made on a shoestring budget of around Rs 25 lakh.”

Shah admits, “The day the song became a hit I decided to make the film. I finished shooting within 12 days.”

Shah insists his film is original and says, “I have only borrowed the first line of the song.” But interestingly, Shah’s wife Sapna, the protagonist in his film, plays a small-time heroine, much like Katrina, in the film.

Despite the grey areas, Shah wants to time the release of his film with Tees Maar Khan. He says, “I am working towards releasing the film on December 24. If I miss that I will surely release it in January 2011.” Are you fine with that Farah?

Saif replaces Ajay Devgn in Prakash Jha's Aarakshan

There has been immense curiosity around Prakash Jha's next film Aarakshan for a while now. The film which originally was said to star Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee, Ajay Devgn, Prateik Babbar and Deepika Padukone, has since undergone lot of changes as far as the starcast is concerned.

One of the major ones has been of Ajay Devgn walking out of the film. It is now confirmed that the part which was originally to be played by Ajay will now be played by Saif. Confirming this, Amitabh Bachchan posted on his blog saying, "Preparations for 'Aarakshan' with Prakash Jha are on in swing and another meet today was done to finalize aspects of the oncoming shoot. Saif Ali now replaces Ajay and soon we shall be making a final announcement of this."

The film deals with the issue of reservation and its impact on the society. It will be shot in Bhopal next year.

Deepika's 'Dum Maaro Dum' song to be used in rave-party sequence

Deepika Padukone is getting into shape to shoot the sizzling 'Dum Maaro Dum' track for Rohan Sippy's film of that title, at Yash Raj Studios on Tuesday. The Anand Bakshi-penned song re-written by Jaideep Sahni (who has scripted Yash Raj's Chak De and Rocket Singh - Salesman Of The Year) and re-composed by Pritam Chakraborty will be choreographed by Bosco-Caesar. The song will be shot in utter secrecy.

And now in the film's leading lady Bipasha Basu's absence (she's in Australia shooting for Roland Joffe's Singularity) the song is all set to sizzle with Deepika dazzling on the dance floor, her second item song. The first was with Shah Rukh Khan in Billu. This time she go-goes it alone.

Says a source from the crew, "It's a rave-party song. Deepika will be seen dancing to 'Dum Maaro Dum' at the party. At the end of the song, cop Abhishek Bachchan will raid the rave party. So even he can't be part of the song."

Adds the source, "'Dum Maaro Dum' could never have been filmed on Bipasha. Her character cannot be present during the time when the song happens."

However, that's not the impression Bipasha had been given.

The song is being shot in a great rush. Apparently, composer Pritam Chakraborty has not even decided on the voice to be used to sing 'Dum Maaro Dum'.

"They're going ahead to shoot the dance with a scratch recording," whispers the source. Let's hope Bipasha doesn't raid Deepika's rave party before Abhishek does.

Tere Bin Laden 2 - Sequel

Another sequel in the making? Trustworthy sources have whispered in our ears that producers Pooja Shetty Deora and Aarti Shetty and director Abhishek Sharma are planning a sequel to TERE BIN LADEN. The low cost film, helmed by a first-time director and starring talented names such as Ali Zafar and Pradhuman Singh, ranks amongst the successful films of 2010, which, very frankly, is a big achievement since a majority of biggies made a deep hole in the pockets of their investors.

However, director Abhishek Sharma doesn't rule out a possibility of TERE BIN LADEN 2. "Yes, we have had discussions [about the sequel], but till we don't hit upon the right idea, there's no point going ahead with it. Pooja, Aarti and I genuinely feel there's no point announcing a sequel, if the script isn't in place. If we hit upon an interesting idea some day and if we feel that the second part will be better than the first, we will go ahead and make one. But not in the immediate future."

The soft-spoken director adds that he's working on a few concepts, apart from TBL 2, and has discussed it with his producers. "But nothing is finalized right now," he adds.

Priyanka-Hrithik will be seen in Krrish sequel again

Priyanka Chopra has just bagged lead part opposite Hrithik Roshan in the much awaited Krrish sequel.Buzz has it that Priyanka has been signed on by director Rakesh Roshan and the movie is all set to roll next month.Speaking with a daily, a source verified that Priyanka will be playing a journalist and said, “Priyanka has been the first and the last option. There was no discussing as it has been introduced to the media which are absolutely PR plugs by other actresses just to cast an impression that things are not fine between Priyanka and the Roshan family. However, we were at a meeting and Krrish sequel has finally began rolling.

It has been a long wait of almost 4 years. Priyanka has been signed on to play the lead. The shooting will generally be out of India and the shooting location is being completed. It is too early for the Roshans to expose anything. Krrish will be seen completely aware of his capabilities. Who will play the villain is now the question as several big names are being contemplated,” added the source.It is greatly believed that Priyanka will be sporting a new look for the film.
